Hamburger Buns

This week Big Daddy is baking up some hamburger buns. Not those soft, squishy ones that you find at the grocery stores. These are firm, but soft and can take a juicy burger without falling apart. And, to make it even better, they are super easy to make!

Instructions

  1. Mix and knead all of the dough ingredients for about 8 minutes.
  2. Place in greased bowl and let rise until double in bulk, about 1 hour.
  3. Shape the buns: Divide the dough into 8 equal parts. Roll each piece into a ball, then on a parchment lined baking tray, press each piece flat. Make sure there is room for them to expand.
  4. Proof for 1 hour, or until they have puffed up. Durning the last 15 minutes, preheat the oven to 375 F.
  5. In a small bowl, combine egg and 1 teaspoon water. Beat until frothy. Carefully brush egg onto buns, then place in the 375 F oven for 15 to 18 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool before eating, about 1 hour.
