Time
2 hours, 30 minutes

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then whisk in the active dry yeast. Allow this to sit for 10 minutes or until you see a creamy foam indicating the yeast is active.
  2. Add sunflower oil and 2 cups of flour. Beat with wooden spoon, then add salt and 1 cup more flour, and mix. Continue adding flour 1 cup at a time. Knead the dough until smooth, about 6 minutes.
  3. Place in an oiled bowl and turn dough to coat. Cover and allow to rise for 1 hour, or until double in bulk.
  4. Punch down dough and device in half. Shape into loaves and place into oiled 9x5-inch baking tins. Allow to rise for 30 minutes, or until the dough has risen 1 inch about pans.
  5. Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes, or until bread reaches 190 F.
  6. Allow to cool before cutting.
